Fall From Grace

1.
Found my life caved in My head was in a spin Just like my heart I’ve always tried to see the light Picture things from every side Every part I never had a second chance My whole life was in your hands Right from the start So if I die tonight It will be because of my Broken heart I can’t find you anymore I’ve been opening all doors For so long I can’t find you anymore I’ve been opening all doors For so long I can’t find you anymore I’ve been trying all these damn damn doors For so long It all makes me feel so sad It’s all way over my head and it feels so wrong No-one’s with me in this thing However this bird will sing His own song All these songs All these songs All these songs So if I die tonight if I die tonight if I die tonight if I die tonight if I die tonight It will be because of my Broken heart
2.
You know I considered leaving But I couldn’t figure out where to go And now when-ever I am walkin’ The floor moves while I stand still How can I get grip on the situation? Far too many told me That sometimes life is hard While I just need some-one to hold me And mend the crack in my heart How can I get grip on the situation? I never lied about my feelings Though I might have kept some things untold And now we’re burning up the real thing I don’t know what to say at all How can I get grip on the situation?
3.
am a tree I won't go anywhere Firmly rooted in this soil I can only bend and wave with the winds and try just try to put some shadows on the ground You're a spirit No one knows where you are No one knows what drives your heart truth lingers in twilight you just might you just might live between the stars Hey ho Hey ho you know the sun you know the sun always travels I won't ask you to stay here There's nothing good in this wood just float among my branches no one knows no one knows if you would Hey ho Hey ho you know the sun you know the sun always travels West
4.
Can you feel the winds of change After all these troubled years Roaming thru this hostile world Masking your tears Everything twisted and curled Nasty and dreadfully strange Well it’s alright now It’s alright now I see myself in you You won’t be left alone It’s alright now It’s alright now after all you went thru you deserve an open door Cast these stones upon your soul as far away as you can ruthless without a doubt make yourself a better plan Even if it’s hard to get out never give up on you goal Well it’s alright now I called you twice now I see myself in you You won’t be left alone It’s alright now It’s alright now after all you went thru you deserve that it’s alright now and it’s alright now after all you went thru you deserve an open door Can you feel that All what’s left is Ready to be Moved to where Everything is Nothing

Friends like you Far and few Ringin' true Stick like glue Make me wanna hitch a ride over a thousand miles Just to listen to that two buck chime We don't need a dime All these riches we find Good old friend of mine Friends like you Sweet and true Touch my heart Stick like glue I will play that two buck chime As long as you like It won't take a single dime All these riches we find Good old friend of mine Friends like you Far and few Ringin' true Stick like glue Make me wanna hitch a ride over a thousand miles Just to listen to that two buck chime We don't even need a dime All these riches we find Good old friend of mine We don't even need a dime These riches we find Good old friend of mine

I met Martin while on tour in Europe in 2010. We quickly became good friends and musical collaborators, recording, co-writing and touring together across the Netherlands from 2010-2014 as the folk duo Jess and Martin.

About the album:
"This album tells my story about the rough weather I had to sail through on the merciless oceans of life." -Martin van de Vrugt

About Martin:
Martin (Deventer, 1963) was initially inspired by Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Neil Young but later also by traditional (American) folk, country, jazz and blues, began playing as a street musician in 1980 and worked his way up to many venues in and around the Netherlands. His songs move because Martin flawlessly gives his vision of the world and puts it into beautiful lyrics and timeless music.

From Martin van de Vrugt:

All tracks are written(except where noted), played, produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Martin van de Vrugt at the Ragged Mountain Studio, Deventer, the Netherlands between November 2012 and March 2013 with the kind help of Jessica Røki Kilroy (on track # 3, 5, 6, 8 and 11) and The Highland Regiment Pipes (on track # 9). Thanks for that guys!
This album is dedicated to all the kind people who were with me through all the ups and downs of life the last few years especially my wife Marit who was there all the time while I failed to tell her many times how much I love and need her.
